Course Title: Is Your Employee Involvement Where It Needs to Be?

Course Type: Webinars

Objective: This webinar focuses on identifying and creating a process to manage employee involvement in your safety management system (SMS). It also discusses several ways to measure the effectiveness and investigate the reasons for unsuccessful employee involvement efforts. In addition, the webinar provides information to assist leaders, managers, and supervisors in identifying different marketing techniques to promote involvement, including some examples of ways to motivate reluctant employees.

Pre-Requisites: This presentation is beneficial to personnel wanting to enhance their employee involvement process to better track, assess, and promote involvement efforts. Attendees should have a basic understanding of employee involvement or participation in an SMS prior to this webinar. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this presentation may include: Commanders, Directors & other executive leadership, safety and occupational health staff, supervisors, others involved in managing employee involvement, and union representatives.

Ms. Gormish has been with the SMCX since 2012, supporting all DoD Services and Agencies. She also has experience conducting environmental, energy, and resource management projects for CTC clients.

Christopher Chaffin, CSP

DoD SMCX, Senior Safety and Health Professional

Mr. Chaffin has worked with the DoD SMCX since 2006, when he retired from Civil Service. He served as a safety professional at different types of commands, including Safety Manager of naval air station, naval base, naval construction and maintenance, and Safety Director for Naval Education and Training Command (NETC). Chris also served in the USMC.

Mr. Sloane started working with the DoD SMCX in 2020. He has 11-year career as a USN Safety Manager and is a 28-year retired Naval Engineering Officer.

Sally D’Agostino, WSO-CSS

DoD SMCX, Safety and Health Professional

Ms. D’Agostino has been with the DoD SMCX for 10 years.  She is a former OSHA Compliance Officer. She worked for the Department of the Army for over 27 years and is a former Safety Manager at Watervliet Arsenal.
