Course Title: Common Issues with HazMat and GHS

Course Type: Webinars

Objective: This webinar focuses on hazardous materials and hazard communication (HAZCOM). It discusses how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) HAZCOM program aligns with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and describes the classes of hazardous materials. In addition, the webinar provides information on common findings and concludes with a list of best practices to help you manage hazardous materials at your organization.

Pre-Requisites: This introductory presentation is beneficial to personnel wanting to learn more about HAZCOM, common workplace HAZCOM deficiencies, and related best practices. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this presentation may include: Supervisors or other personnel responsible for managing areas with hazardous materials, employees or other personnel who work with or around hazard materials, safety and health (S&H) professionals who manage HAZCOM programs, and S&H personnel or supervisors who provide training on HAZCOM or hazardous materials.

Mr. Savage has been with the SMCX since 2006, supporting all DoD Services and Agencies. He works primarily with Army and Navy sites.

Mike Sloane, DoD SMCX Senior Safety and Health Professional

Mr. Sloane has been with the SMCX since June of 2020, primarily supporting Navy and Marine Corps sites. He has 12 years’ experience as Site Safety Manager at two different Naval installations and is a 28-year retired Naval Engineering Officer.
