Course Title: PPE Workplace Solutions – Let’s Start with the Basics

Course Type: Webinars

Objective: This webinar defines personal protection equipment (PPE) and reviews the standards requiring PPE in the workplace. The webinar also summarizes basic PPE training requirements and reviews OSHA requirements for conducting a hazard assessment to determine PPE needs in the workplace. The webinar discusses some solutions for improving and optimizing PPE use in the workplace and reviews the recommended elements of a PPE program.

Pre-Requisites: This introductory presentation is beneficial to personnel wanting to learn more about PPE requirements and establishing a PPE program. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this presentation may include: safety and health (S&H) professionals, first-line supervisors, and other personnel with responsibilities for oversight of the PPE program.

Robert Barnikow, DoD SMCX, Principal Safety and Occupational Health Professional

Mr. Barnikow began working on the DoD SMCX 14 years ago. A former Air Force Aircraft Mechanic, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist, Army and Navy Safety and Occupational Health Program Manager, he successfully achieved the first OSHA VPP Star recognition within the DoD. Mr. Barnikow has 41 years of experience with safety and health programs.

Maxwell Bassett, DoD SMCX, Senior Safety and Occupational Health Professional

Working on the DoD SMCX program for 3 years, Mr. Bassett is a former Deputy Safety Program Director for Navy Region Southeast and Naval Flight Officer. He spent the prior 10 years mentoring DoD STAR sites, serving as a Special Government Employee (SGE) and overseeing the safety programs for 1/3 of all stateside Navy Shore Installations.
