Course Title: Contractor Management and Oversight in the SMS World

Course Type: Webinars

Objective: This webinar focuses on contractor management and oversight as it supports your organization’s safety and occupational health management system (SOHMS). The webinar reviews several requirements and expectations for contractors in your SOHMS, including key reference documents, contractor types, key phases of the contracting process, and responsibilities. The key to a successful contractor management and oversight program is clear lines of communication and coordination between contracting office, contracting representatives, contractors, and safety personnel. This webinar describes the importance of these communications and reviews topics of discussion. The webinar concludes with best practices shared from other DoD organizations.

Pre-Requisites: This introductory-level presentation is beneficial to personnel wanting to learn more about contractor management and oversight within an SOHMS. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this presentation may include: SOHMS points of contact, Contracting Officers, Contracting Office Representatives (CORs), Safety managers, and Safety staff.

Ms. Gormish has been with the SMCX since 2012, supporting all DoD Services and Agencies. She also has experience conducting environmental, energy, and resource management projects for CTC clients.

Paul Archer
Branch Chief, Acquisition Support, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC), Tinker AFB, OK

Mr. Archer is currently serving as the Branch Chief over Acquisition Support for the OC-ALC. Customers he and his team support include all of the production Groups (Aircraft, Commodities, Propulsion, Maintenance Support, & Software). He has been at Tinker AFB since 1997 in various positions and has been very actively engaged in reviewing and updating contractor management and oversight at Tinker AFB.

Kellie Williams
Chief, Safety & Occupational Health, US Army Engineering & Support Center, Huntsville

Ms. Williams has worked in the Safety and Occupational Health field for over 30 years. She has several years in consulting before staring her career at Huntsville Center in 1991. She has supported most
of the programs in the Center before becoming Chief of Safety in June 2016 has been instrumental in the implementation of SMS not only at HNC but in the USACE. She holds an Engineering degree.
