Course Title: How to Conduct Employee SOHMS Interviews

Course Type: Workshops

Objective: This workshop focuses on conducting interviews for safety management system (SOHMS) evaluations. It describes the similarities and differences of formal and informal interviews and walks you through starting, conducting, and concluding an interview. It discusses refining your own interview skills and using interview results for SOHMS improvements. In addition, several activities help you learn more about the SOHMS interview process and apply the knowledge learned.

Pre-Requisites: This introductory-level workshop is beneficial to personnel wanting to learn more about honing interview skills to evaluate SOHMSs. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this workshop may include: Safety and health (S&H) professionals, SOHMS points of contact, key personnel and supervisors involved with SOHMS evaluations, or anyone interested in evaluating SOHMSs.

Employed by Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) since 2010, Ms. Gormish has worked on the SMCX program since 2012, primarily supporting the Army and providing guidance regarding S&H compliance and SOHMS implementation and sustainment. She also has experience conducting environmental, energy, and resource management projects for CTC clients. Ms. Gormish gained considerable interviewing experience through the SMCX and private endeavors.

Mr. Hody has worked with the SMCX for over 9 years during his 10+ years at CTC, providing guidance for SOHMS implementation and sustainment to a variety of DoD Services and Agencies. He gained considerable interviewing experience during through his efforts with the SMCX.
